Boarding facilities ready for Kedah students (Langkawi included). A guide for families in Alor Setar, Jitra, Sungai Petani, Kulim and Langkawi.

Kedah is the neighbouring state of Perlis, with approximately a 1-hour drive from Alor Setar — the state capital of Kedah — to Harvest Academy in Kangar. From Langkawi island, the journey is about 1 hour 15 minutes, including a 1-hour ferry trip.
From the birth of Harvest Academy, there has been continuous enquiry and request to provide education to students in Kedah, including parents from Langkawi island. The number of Kedah students has been increasing since 2017, which was also the kick-off period for the boarding facilities. Today about a third of our students come from outside Perlis.

Boarding built for Kedah families
Being a private educational institution, Harvest Academy is the pioneer in both Perlis and Kedah, being the earliest to have secondary students graduate with the Cambridge International GCSE continuously. Due to the overwhelming response from Kedah, our boarding house now offers two options:
- Weekday boarding: boarders check in on Sunday, a day before the beginning of the week, and check out on Friday after school.
- Full boarding: boarders stay over the weekend, with an exeat weekend at home about every two to three weeks — popular with Langkawi and southern Kedah families.
Boarders live in air-conditioned, fully furnished shared rooms with attached bathrooms, have four meals a day from Monday to Thursday, and complete supervised evening prep with houseparents on hand to help. For Langkawi students, our housemaster or housemistress arranges transport between Kuala Perlis Jetty and the boarding house. See the boarding house and a boarder's daily routine.
A trusted international secondary syllabus
The demand for an international secondary syllabus is increasing, and after many years of searching, parents from Kedah are excited that they can finally enrol their children at Harvest Academy for the learning opportunity and experience of the Lower Secondary and International GCSE curriculum. The International GCSE is the world's most popular international qualification: students study the Lower Secondary syllabus for the first three years and the International GCSE for the final two years. It is taken in over 150 countries and in more than 4,800 schools around the world, with over 800,000 subject entries each year.
What can the qualification provide?
International GCSE qualifications are accepted by over 1,500 institutions across 78 countries. This gives students an edge to pursue higher education at their dream university. Earning the International GCSE with Harvest Academy does not mean that the student must pursue higher education overseas, but it assists students if they want to. Local universities in Malaysia also welcome international qualification learners.
Our results speak for themselves: a 100% pass rate in the Cambridge IGCSE every year from 2021 to 2026, and graduates who have received university offers in Malaysia and around the world, many with scholarships. See results and university destinations.
Character matters
While academic achievement is important, Harvest Academy prioritises students' learning attitude and monitors students' character constantly. Teachers listen to students' opinions and then give feedback. With the Harvest 55 Practices, Harvest offers an international approach with British foundations, aiming to push boundaries and motivate pupils academically, personally and culturally.
